Review of Gurgaon Organic Farmers Market (GOFM)

  • by

In the previous month, I had the opportunity to visit the renowned Gurgaon Organic Farmers Market, widely recognized as GOFM in Gurgaon. For those unfamiliar, GOFM is a marketplace for organic farmers, as well as organic stores from the Delhi NCR region, who come to showcase and sell their organic produce, some of which they’ve sourced from other providers.

My initial impression was that the prices were on the higher side. Please don’t misunderstand me; I recognize that organic fruits and vegetables typically come at a premium due to their limited production and the dynamics of supply and demand. Here is a list of some of the fruits and vegetables we purchased on the 19th of February, 2023:

Determining the complete organic authenticity of fruits and vegetables remains a persistent challenge. Your level of confidence typically hinges on your relationship with the farmer or the store. I’m familiar with instances where certain farmers, who don’t grow fruits and vegetables themselves, sell organic produce at places like The Heritage School in Gurgaon and elsewhere. In such cases, they are essentially relying on sourcing from other farmers, which might not consistently guarantee organic quality.

The key point I aim to emphasize is the lack of a definitive assurance regarding the organic authenticity of the fruits and vegetables you purchase. We’re actively addressing this issue. Our objective extends beyond just building trust; we’re also dedicated to making organic vegetables more accessible, ensuring that everyone in Gurgaon can afford them. Increased demand, in turn, has the potential to drive down the cost of organic fruits and vegetables.
